Nate Tyler grew up on California’s beautiful and rugged central coast, learning to surf the challenging cold-water breaks from Pismo to Big Sur. Nate limits his competitive surfing to local events, except for the VQS, where he has been a regular competitor, taking the 2010 World Title. Largely eschewing traditional surfing competition, as well as traditional living, Nate makes his home in a “nomad”-style yurt dwelling amidst the calm serenity of rural California where his other interests include creating kinetic metal sculptures. Despite his preference for living outside the spotlight, Nate’s explosive high-performance surfing has made him one of the sport’s most dynamic and sought-after athletes.
